Your estate plan and business plan must agree
A trust may say who receives a business interest, while an operating agreement or buy-sell agreement says what happens to that interest. Those documents should be reviewed together.
Plan for incapacity, not only death
Decision-making authority can become urgent when an owner cannot work. Powers of attorney, trust provisions, and company governance documents should identify who can act and where that authority begins and ends.
Build the team around the plan
Succession often involves legal, tax, insurance, valuation, and financial questions. Coordinating advisors helps turn separate documents into one workable transition strategy.
